  3.  
  4. FILEZ is a binary file editor.
  5.  
  6. FILEZ gives you complete byte-level control over the 
  7. contents of any file:  whether program, data, or text.  
  8. FILEZ works like a text editor except that binary data (not 
  9. normally displayable or printable) can be viewed and 
  10. modified as easily as text.  FILEZ also lets you print what 
  11. you see on the screen.  Complete search and replace 
  12. facilities are also provided, and patterns can be entered as 
  13. text or binary data using hex notation.  Pattern replacement 
  14. can be made effective for each occurance or for all 
  15. occurances in a file.  FILEZ normally displays 256 bytes of 
  16. a file at a time, but the 256 byte record size can be user-
  17. specified to any value between 1 and 256.  FILEZ also 
  18. provides the capability of merging another file at any point 
  19. within the file you are editing.  A file under edit can be 
  20. sectioned and the section then copied to another file, 
  21. providing the capability to create any kind of data file 
  22. needed by a database or any other application.  FILEZ also 
  23. allows the capability of removing any section of a file, as 
  24. in the case of invalid data in a file that an application 
  25. fails to handle properly.  The on-line help with FILEZ 
  26. allows command syntax to be reviewed without having to refer 
  27. to a user manual.  You can use the on-line 
  28. ASCII/decimal/octal/hex table to translate values.  FILEZ 
  29. will use color if your display supports it, in both the UNIX 
  30. and MSDOS versions.  If the default colors used by FILEZ do 
  31. not suite your taste, it is easy to change them.  FILEZ can 
  32. print each record as it is displayed on the screen, or all 
  33. of the records in the file can be printed.  FILEZ is not a 
  34. MS-Windows application, but it can run inside a Window as 
  35. FILEZ was written to be compatible with Windows.  A Windows 
  36. 3.0 PIF file is included with the MSDOS distribution.  FILEZ 
  37. is the handiest software tool for programmers who need to 
  38. verify the contents of data files or patch a program.  FILEZ 
  39. is the most useful software tool for consultants who need a 
  40. sure-fire way to fix bad data in any file.  FILEZ provides 
  41. the easiest way for any sophisticated computer user to look 
  42. inside a file, regardless of its contents.

  44. This shareware version of FILEZ is not limited or crippled
  45. in any way.  However, it may not be the latest version offered by 
  46. Software Toolz.

  48.                             Register FILEZ

  50. FILEZ is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the
  51. user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but
  52. please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.  The
  53. essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer
  54. users with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide
  55. incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.  If
  56. you find this program useful and find that you are using FILEZ and
  57. continue to use FILEZ after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
  58. registration payment to Software Toolz per the conditions on the
  59. order form below.  The registration fee will license one copy for use
  60. on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software
  61. just like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by
  62. any number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  63. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it being
  64. used at one location while it's being used at another.  Just as a
  65. book cannot be read by two different persons at the same time.

  68. FILEZ within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn.

  72. first contact Software Toolz at the address below for authorization.
  73. This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
  74. recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for

  76. FILEZ immediately (However Software Toolz must still be advised so
  77. that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest
  78. version of FILEZ.).
